It looks like a real rush is going on to remix every popular hit from the 90s at this moment. So I decided to go for an acapella of the month from the beginning of the 90’s. To be more specific the acapella of Finally from Ce Ce Peniston.

I was going completely out of my mind during the creation of this mashup. I was still a bit frustrated by the fact that I’ve recently been to late with the ideas or releases of some mashups. So I was looking at the currently popular tracks that I would like to see mashed up. The Sugar song from Flo Rida was one that popped out of the list because, I wasn’t really happy with the R&B beat behind it and some of the breaks in the track.

A few weeks ago Native Instruments started with a public test of Traktor 1.2 beta in all Pro/Duo Scratch/Non-Scratch versions. Since I was looking forward to the new “Elastique Pro” timestretching algorithm that would be in the next version I also joined the beta. And so far so good, the beta seems to be stable and have some nice improvements. I’ve focused my testing on the new Key Lock algorithm.

Freestyle Orchestra with Keep on pumpin’ it up is a dance track from the 90s. Not a big hit and frankly I don’t like the track either. It was a project from Little Louie Vega and Todd Terry, big names but definitely not their best production.

Last Saturday at Extrema 2009 the ambiance made my mind come up with all kind of nice ideas for mashups. So Sunday I planned on mixing Benny Benassi with the Black Eyed Peas. Unfortunately a quick visit to Google learned me that more people already got that idea.

I had planned for a very nice and powerful acapella that, when looped correctly, is a very great house tool. But that all changed when Michael Joseph Johnson died last Thursday. He has inspired many people and the name Michael Jackson became a world wide known brand.

Unfortunately I am still waiting for my AKAI APC 40 to arrive. It looks like it is going to be the end of this month. It seems there are only a few available at the moment and that just a handful of people have been able to grab one. The rest ended up in the stores as Demo model.

Lately it’s been a little bit quiet, but that doesn’t mean nothing is happening. Since January this year I’ve said goodbye to Café the Miller Time. After almost two years of building the Miller Time with Simone & Brechje as captains, it was time for a change.

There are a number of acapellas that are very likely to be played by DJs. Acapellas like Who is Jack, Music from Madonna, Bob Sinclar with The beat goes on and so on. The three acapellas I justed listed do have in common that they link to DJing by some phrases in the text, just like Dimples D – Sucker DJ.

Today, May the 30th, is a great day. Not only the sun is shining but the AKAI APC 40 Ableton Live MIDI Controller is officially released. Since the announcement I’ve been looking forward to get my hands on this peace of hardware. I am still waiting for my order to arrive, but hope to be able to tell you more soon.
